Test Enviroment
Now that I've published this project and shared it, breaking production isn't harmless anymore. To solve this, I deployed a tests enviroment. Production should be safe now (until I deploy something and break it again). The tests enviroment is not public.
SQL Server was too expensive, migrated to Postgres
For this project, I had created a SQL Server RDS instance because I'm familiar with this database. But, apparently 1GB of RAM ain't enough for SQL Server, so i was paying a lot for extra processing (at least for me, it's a lot of money). Upgrading to 2GB of RAM wasn't particularly cheap either, so I opted for Postgres and kept 1GB RAM. Let's see how it goes before putting more effort into reducing costs. This project is still small, so the migration was fairly simple with a C# program that would connect to both SQL Server and Postgres, read all tables and transfer all the data. The po ...
Show moreFixed Jenkins' pipeline
For quite some time, i had this random occurance of which my CD pipeline would crash, and I had to restart my EC2 server to temporarily fix it. As it turns out, my EC2 t3.micro instance with 1GB of RAM was doing wonders to publish the project, since the pipeline would make it run "git pull" then "dotnet publish". Now the pipeline runs "dotnet publish" on the jenkins server and sends a .zip file to the EC2 machine.
Fixed Jenkins' pipeline (again)
Now with two jenkins pipelines, one for test and one for production, I didn't realize that the lack of EF-Migrations on the production db would break the deploy. The EF-Migration has been included in the pipeline.

Just like Reddit, Users Posts won't get deleted after a User is deleted.
We can publish Posts without communities
Just like Reddit, a Post may not have a subreddit and it will be visible in the User's profile and on followers Feed. Here on Plaground right now, the only way to see a Post without a community is in the User's profile, since there's no way to follow another User yet. Maybe I will implement it but I have so many other ideias I wanna do, I may never do that.
AI interfaces are all the same
Lately I've been seeing a lot of UI with the same exact style: backgrounds with two gradients (usually blue), everything is very rounded (every section, every button). Even the blur effect when elements get behind others (usually when elements get behind navbars, this one is a bit harder to notice, but once seen, can't be unseen). I'm probably noticing it so much because of my vibe-coded landing page, but this AI look gives me a feeling of badly tested products, poorly designed and rushed ideas. Kind of feel like a insult having to read AI generated text, since it feels like I'm the first o ...

Feat: Guest account creation
Now we can enter the Playground with as Guest with some actual account name. Guests can do anything a regular User can, except that the registration must be completed in order to login again afterwards, since guests don't have account password. This account name was generated automatically. This name generation still will be improved.
